B28F K jet Fuel Distributor[ALL/1998] posted by Paul on

What are the signs and symptoms of a failing/bad K-Jet fuel distributor?

What is the "typical" failure mode? Can the fuel distributor be cleaned?
What are the wear parts?

The Bosch part no. is FD35X and this unit costs $475.

A private "Volvo" mechanic says mine is "dirty" after 170K and needs
replacing.

Thanks!

Fuel distributors don't really have any "typical" failure symptoms. They can make a car do some really weird things, running-wise. Normally they are not considered serviceable. They certainly are not cleanable. If you split the halves, it would be just short of a small miracle to get it back together without leaking.
