Hoping I'm not going over old stuff here, I'd like to know if anyone happens to know if the S40 (formally 440?) is available in the US? I visited Europe lately and I liked the cars alot, but its seemingly unavailable here in the states.
Are they street legal here? Available through European delivery program?
Would you be asking for major problems with respect to getting it serviced and stuff? Any idea what the thing costs?

That's odd I have herd that it will come to the US.If not Canada first as this is an excellent test market for the US.

Hi all,
The S40 is a new vechile made on the same producton line and utilising the same floor pan and as the mitsabishi carisma in Holland. The the floor pand and suspension is baes on that of the 850 and the engines are the 5 cylinders with a cylinder block chopped off.
It has just been released in japan at there motor show. i havent myself read or heard anything about send the s40 saloon and estate(station wagaon) v40 to the US or canada but i think it will be a good idea.

I sent e-mail to Volvo about the S40...looks like grim hopes of ever
getting the S40 here....
here is what volvo had to say:
