When I started my 850GLT yesterday, the winter mode indicator on the dash (the arrow pointing up) started blinking. The manual states that this indicates a "fault in the automatic gearbox". The car seems to run ok, but the winter mode button (which I tried pressing a few times when I first saw the light) doesn't do anything. Does anyone have any experience with this or any idea of the sort of problem this indicates? The car has 51k miles on it, and I just got it in August. I'm not sure if it's related, but it was especially cold yesterday, near freezing, the first time it's been cold enough for the red warning LED by the thermometer to come on.

That light flashing indicates that the trans. electronic control unit has detected something wrong with a sensor input or a controlled function. When some faults are detected some functions of the trans. will be interrupted.
