360GLE '87 competition parts[ALL/1998] posted by Nudgemunn on

Anyone can help me sorting out to get comp. part for my 360GLE. I know the Dutch raced them sometime ago, so what did they put into their cars?

Anybody who knows please indicate make, brand, specifications and source of part if possible. Every little help counts. Thank you.

I think someone used to race a/two 360/440 in the South East Asia Touring Car Championship. I think it was 1995 when they started having the 2 litre cars in their series. Since you are in Malaysia, I think you might be able to find some information on that Volvo through some local car/racing Magazine. I know my reply is kind of not very helpful, but that's all I could remember right now. I will update you if I can find any new information.

Hi! What's your engine type? Volvo B19 or Renault? If Renault, what exact type and cc? I may know where to get parts for both. I imported 343 Rally car to the States 18 years ago, bought from R-Sport, so I'm familiar with Renault engined cars, too.

My 360GLE (344 series)has a B20 engine with a displacement of 1986 cc. I hope this will help you to help me.

Really!!?? B20 PUSHROD motor was used up to 1975 ! Must be a mistake...Or they call Renault engine B20 again...You must find out if it's a Renault or Volvo. In Europe they use both and Volvo is B19 OHC motor. PS. There's a plenty of racing parts for Volvo B20...

I really can't be sure but that's what is stated on the engine B20xxxxxxxx. Really appreciate your help. Can you just specify for both type of engines and suspension set-ups?

TQ.

If you can't tell pushrod motor from overhead cam one you better forget doing anything.... Just keep driving as is!

Sorry for the ignorance but now I'm sure that it's an overhead cam motor rather than a pushrod version. But I am still not sure whether its a Renault built or Volvo's own. Anyway, thank you for the enlightment.

I hope you would still help.

TQ

If it is the Volvo engine it will look much like an engine in a 240. If it is the Renault it will be a 'skinny' engine. I have a 245 and a 440. The 440 (successor to the 360) is also a DAF, and they all have 'Renault' power. Mine is 2 litre and wheezes out 108 BHP, with inlet and outlet ports an the same side of the engine.
