Volvo lovers:
I love my new S70 GLT. (Mark, I guess I just decided to roll the dice!)
Any opinion on which wax to use. (Mystic Silver (metallic)) Specifically, should I use the Meguiar's Gold product or their System step 3 carnauba or maybe an expensive Carnauba like Malms. Any advice appreciated.

Since your car is relatively new, I would highly recommend you use the one step Medallion from Meguiars. It is their highest rated protectant, with just a touch of polish. I've used it on my 850 turbo since new, and although I usually was it more frequently, its not unusual for it to last for 6 mos! It is easy to apply, brings out a wonderful shine, and smells great , too.

Since you spent you your money why not spend some more? Go for the Zymol.

As a bit of a warning, you may want to read what the owners manual says. If I recall, my manual (for a '96 850) warns against automatic car washes for the first couple of months (to allow the paint to harden it claims) and, although I don't remember, it may also have warned against waxing for the first few months.
As far as waxes, Consumer Reports did a test on waxes not too long ago and concluded that Meguiar's Cleaner Wax in liquid form (their regular cheap stuff) provided the best gloss out of everything they tried, including Zymol and Klasse. However, it ranked only average for durability. NuFinish paste finished tops for durability but only average for gloss. Check your local library if you want the full report.

Dana, congratulations! You thought long and hard about this and I'm sure you made the right decision. I'm sure your car will give you years of good service.

I've been using Zymol on my 89 760 and 91 940. Seems fairly durable and smells good. The first applications is a bear but seems easier after that. Good luck with the new car and don't wax the paint off too soon.
