1800s rotors, 'swedge', 'press', or pound!.[ALL/1998] posted by George Pluck on

After a lengthy search I found a set of new rotors for my '67 1800.
My question, how do I get the old rotors off the hub, and get the new ones on?
I've heard off this swedge press that is used for this application. I've also heard that the 'swedge' should only be used for earlier cars.
Anybody out there done this kind of job?...
George.

Most auto machine shops can do this job for a reasonable price. But if I were you, I would send the rotors back where you got them and order a set already mounted on the hubs from Volvo. Call John Sharisky at Boston Volvo (1-800-336-2355) and ask for part number 666525.

I bought a pair of aftermarket rotors that didn't fit the hubs properly, and it caused them to warp even before I put them on the car. One way to determine if the rotors are o.k. for your car is to check the minimum thickness recorded on the rotor. Volvo specs call for a minimum thickness of 12.2 mm (0.480"). If the minimum thickness on your rotors is less than that, you know the rotors were not made for your car.
