Just a quick tip on new horns.
The original French "Klaxon" horns were shot on the 262C. I didn't scrounge for junkers, price new units or consider the $70 Hella units for sale in various enthusiast 'logs.
I did buy the $9.95 ea. "European 130 db" units from JC Whitney (Jacque Whipme). With their current -10% off and shipping the total was mid $20 something. I didn't really now what to expect, but 10 days later...they ship slow boat.....two nice looking Fiamm units showed up on the porch. Looked like direct bolt in.
Well, I bolted them in turned the ignition on and the horns started blaring without pushing the pad!!!
Took me a second or two to figure out the second horn (hi?) has a grounded body (in fact that's where the terminal is - the first horn (lo?) is isolated). The Volvo circuit and horns are isolated from ground. I replaced the steel bracket with a nice reinforced plastic angled bracket to isolate the second horn.
With trusty daughter pushing the horn pad to test I am now rather deaf (just kidding ;-]).
The horns work great...I'm now ready for some Italian style winter driving!!

Paul,
have you consider the Fiamm horn sets?
They are about @$35.00 for a set of Hi and Low.

To you many thousands interested in the Fiamm horns from JC Whitney: No
they are not the same Fiamms pictured in the IPD catalog. The design is the
round style closer to the stock version on the 1981 262C. Yes, they are
much louder than the stock worn out horns. I don't think they are 130 db.
What's that, you say?
