240 doors on a 164?[ALL/1998] posted by Chris Baucom on

Hey! Will doors from a late-model 244 fit on a 1975 164? My 164 doors are rather sad looking, and I have a source for 4 240 doors.... if anyone has done this before, I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks

I bet it will work. I have used the front door glass and armrests from a 240 in a 164E. -Glenn.

This response has absolutely nothing to do with DOORS, but since you have the 164 you might be able to use the information. I got tired of rplacing the
tires on my daughter's '71 164 every three months (we live up in the Blue Ridge
Mountains and the hills and curves are very hard on tires in general) so I
visited a bone yard and came up with a set of standard 14" steel wheels off
of a 240 Series car. I added some decent tires, 195-70 as I remember, and
stuck them under Emily's 164. Presto! Simply the least expensive and most effective handling upgrade that I could have hoped for. No clearance
problems front or rear, and they seem to be wearing at about 1/4th the rate
of the 15 inchers. Try it!

Volvo changed locking latches sometime around '75 or so. Check if they're same type. By that I mean the part that meets the POST. I bet they're different... '73-74 144 will work. About wheels: 1975 164 had 5.5x15 HD steel wheels. They fit to all RWD Volvos. Brakes were ventilated, too. Cheap up-grade to all 122-P1800-142s and older 164s.

Topi, Are you saying that '75 164 wheels will even fit the 122 pattern? ---Brian
