'95 850 vs 850GLT[ALL/1998] posted by Doug Peck on

Hi,
I am looking at '95 850's, and would like to know the difference between the 850 and 850GLT. I am particularly interested in any distinguishing features, so that if I am told I am looking at a 850GLT, I want to be able to confirm that I am indeed looking at that model (without referring to the manual).
Also, a '95 850GLT? w/ 25,000 miles on it had Goodyear tires on it. What were the original tires on this car?
Doug

GLT has keyless entry, alarm, power driver's seat, sunroof, higher watt radio, and alloys. 850 does not have the above mentioned unless it was optioned, and then only some of those items were available as package options. Goodyears were used for three models years, GT+4's I think.

A 'GLT' should have a 'GLT' badge on the trunk. An 850 does not have such a designation. The only differences are with trim level (items such as sunroof and power seats are optional on the 850 and standard on the 850GLT) and possibly with tires. On the 1996 models, I know that the 850 come with steel wheels and Eagle GA tires while the 850GLT comes with Michelin MXV4 on alloys. Engines and trannies are the same for 1995 and 1996 850/850GLTs as are the available suspension options.
