Does anyone know how I can see if the valve seats of my B20 head are hardened
to use with unleaded petrol ?
It is a FI head with 46mm intake and 37mm exhaust valves and double valve springs (probably an R-sport head).

R-Sport heads don't have seats. Valves are grind directly to the head. Only US '74-75 B20 had seats pressed to the head. Use unleaded + leaded to save valves and seats, or a little bit of Octane booster with unleaded. By the way; I'd like get R-Sport heads if you or someboby else can find them. New or good used, even without the valves. I'm looking for these: #552441-8, 552442-6, 552444-2, 552425-1, 552423-6, 552432-7. Number's stamped on the head. Any quantity, anywhere in the world. After finding the best port configuration I'm planning to make a CNC program to do 100% CNC porting. Email me if you find any. Thanks!

I checked that head for those numbers but I can't find them.
The only thing I found was '8 BG' near the valve guides.
Is there any other way of telling if it's a R-sport head ?
I have a list of R-sport articles with their numbers ,if you are interested I will e-mail it to you.
I recently got an adress and fax number from a company in Sweden called 'KG Volvo trimning'. They have performance parts for the B20 and a 152p catalog.
I faxed them for the catalog but haven't yet gotten an answer yet.
I heard they also have heads with straightened ports, roller rockers (1.7/1),...

R-sport heads have a part # stamped on top of the head. They were casted with bigger ports and ports were different shape. They were called "E- casting", but had nothing to do with a regular "E" FI stock head. KG. Hmmm .... He went bankrupt two years ago....
