Weber-Alpha on B21ET ?[ALL/1998] posted by Henrik on

Is there anyone who has any experience with installing a Weber-Alpha fuel injection on 240 turbo -83 with intercooled B21et?
Is it reliable
how much does it cost?
What size throttle body is the best
What is the power gain
What about driveability
I have been told that a B21ET with Weber-Alpha is capable of producing +300hp , depending of boost. Is that true or false?
If there is anyone with any experience in this area, i would be very pleased to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

It's a good unit. Check their web page. I don't have URL but surf English racing pages, they've ad there somewere. 1. I'd stick to late Volvo EFI manifold, fuel rail and injector placement. Take any manifold with injectors. This way installation is "bolt-on". 2. You can also use OEM TPS. 3. Use an old D-Jettronic adjustable fuel pressure regulator. 4. Unless you go for racing, you don't need 4 independent throttle bodies, they are good for non-turbo but turbo doesn't need it. 5. Saab Garrett is 3mm bigger, good for 30+ hp. Mitsu is the best for long life.(Check Steffanson/SAM for old GrA turbos and ask for " GrA Preparation Manual" ) 6. Use a '89 & up B230, any B21 or any B23. Early B230 is junk. (By the way; Svein's answer to you was crazy, there's absolutely no Volvos with aluminum rods...) Finally; American Electromotive TEC2 would be "bolt-on". It uses the same amount of pulses as OEM Volvo (from the flywheel). I don't think it's a good unit qualitywise, but many are using it. It comes with a distributorless ignition, too. Playing with turbos is like playing with a dynamite! Let us know if you loose any fingers...

Hi Henrik

First of all I did NOTsay that there is any volvo's with aluminium rods....Maybe I wrote somthing wrong somehere...But anyway Henrik..If you want to get maximum power in an 240. Do this..Get hold of a B204 GT engine, produced for some special marked, like italy and finland. The engine is a 16 valve turbo only 2 liter engine. What you do, is get hold of a -86 or -87. Change the block. To a B23ET block, change the chip. and you shoud have 300hp++..There is probably many things that I have forgotten to tell you, but I have manely told you the rought part...

Drive fast !!!

Henrik - Somebody in Sweden is supplying 2.0 Turbo race engines for English Ginetta Sportscars. They're going to race them in England next year. This 2.0 liter is rated 365 HP ! See is you can find out who's the builder! This is an half factory effort so HP should be real and engineering well done. Ginetta's going to use Volvo 5-speed, too. This very same package could be good for you, too. (...and for many of us here!) Do some digging and let us know. Thanks!
