I have a '79 262C/Coupe with a stock printed & balanced 350 Olds screwed to a '85 Cad 4 speed; all under the hood nice & snug. No chrome goodies to give it visually away at first glance.
Extremely quiet with quad 30" mufflers in series. The engine/X-mission is exactly 104 LB lighter than the original 2.6/V-6 & gear thingy that J.DeLorean and his pals at Renault, "Pu-jough", Daimler, and whoever else they let in on that useless hunk of scrap-iron of an engine project.
My question is: Has anyone w/a 262 ever replaced the original V6 with a later year inline 6?. The olds is cozy & performs well. But, I'm curious about this different breed of dog. Purests will no doubt criticize the whole idea. However, replacing the olds w/an original 2.6 V6 is out of the question as it is not a well engineered power source.
I'd appreciate hearing from anybody w/a 262. I feel like an outcast. Local natives don't even recognize my car.
Thank You all.
