Iv'e got a 88 240 dl stationwagon that's missing some side trim moulding I wonder if there is some aftermarket trim or where I can get some in northern illinois or northern indiana. are there aftermarket catalogues available like warshawskys? It's my first volvo and I love it but some mechanic just charged my brother 90 bucks to change his upper heater hose (he was broken down and it was the first foreign repair shop he could get to. and I don't want to get hosed like my brother. thanks.et

Jill, your best bet is to first find out from a Volvo Parts Dept. as to how much it would cost you to have the missing side molds replaced. You can put the side molding on yourself because I think they just smap onto place. I have a 240GL 84' so the molding may be different! than go to a junk yard to see if they have any. If not and they have a computer link hook up, see if they can find you where you can locate the item for you! Then contact them and find out how much it would cost you for them to ship the goods to you! Below is the nearest salvage yard in your area:
STANDBERGS AUTO (indoor storage, 80% volvo parts) CENTURIA, WI. 1-800-448-5121.
Good Luck!

Jill, Also be sure to get new moulding clips, the little white boogers that hold the moulding onto the holes in the door. These frequently get REAL brittle and often do not survive the removal process. They are like $5 for a bag of 10 or so. Be sure to fit one on each hole, otherwise they leak into inner door and help rust out the bottom of the door.
