After driving about 1 hour the engine quits. The electrical system appears fine, the car turns over but will not restart for another 2-3 hours. The engine burns some oil but the spark plugs are not fouled. Have a new distributor, rotor, plugs, and wires. Could it possibly be injectors?

I would check to see if you've got power to the fuel pumps after it dies. Check the yellow/red wire coming out of the fuel pump relay when it won't run. The relay is under the dash to the left of the steering column, probably green in color.---Brian

<fuel pump relay>
Probably an off-white color on an '81, if it's original. John.
