My 1985 240 has arotten egg exhaust odor and stalls under acceleration when cold , tailpipe is a little sooty but no black smoke. I presumethe mixture is too rich. From others who have owned this model I have been told it is probalbly the mass air meter . I want to diagnose the problem instead of the hit and miss $$$ parts replacement approach. My Haynes manual for the car is of no help. I need to get some diagnostic procedures for this system (using an analog or digital VOM)- All help is appreciated- Paul ppatt@vivid.net
