'88 740GLE wagon cosmetic questions[ALL/1998] posted by Adam Dixon on

I have several minor cosmetic issues w/an '88 740GLE wagon that I bought last week. Any information about parts availability would be much appreciated. Here's the list:

1) Right rear red door light cover missing. 2) Right rear chrome door handle cover missing. 3) Rear hatch wiper motor/door latch cover is loose. Several

of the tabs which are mounted on the rear hatch and are

supposed to mate w/this cover appear to be too small for the

mating holes on the cover. What is a good attachment method? 4) What is a good solvent to remove adhesive residue from

window stickers that were on the rear hatch window? I don't

want to use a razor blade just in case I slip and damage the rear defroster.

Thanks, Adam

Alex, A good source for Talilight covers and such is Matt's Lenses listed in the links page or try http://www.teleport.com/~savepark. Try lighter fluid or WD-40 spray,(it works great on Duct tape residue). On the wiper motor cover try double face tape inside or ask Matt if he has a new one. Sounds like the right rear door got pranged and the body shop didn't want to find all the little detail parts. You might also take a trip to a local salvage yard and look around. This kind of stuff runs $10 or so fo r the whole deal but from Volvo its $30-50. Stoney
