: I would be interested in hearing from owners of 960's : We have had a 1994 960 wagon for a year. : I would like to compare notes about problems, service etc.

JH and Shatz:

The 960 is proving to be a dependable car. Transmission problems are virtuallty non-existent. The engines are holding up well, no major problems. Driveability problems are very rare. I believe the '94 960 is scheduled for a timing belt at 50K miles. Ma ke sure you do this on time. None of the Volvo white engines are free wheeling engines. In other words, they will bend valves if the belt breaks. And on this engine that is BIG $$$$.

Shatz, your '92 960 should have had a belt at 20K that Volvo paid for. Volvo will also pay for a belt at 40K and install a damper on the exhaust cam to extend the belt life to 30K intervals. After that, you pay. The '92 has had a couple minor recalls. Since you are not the original owner, you probably should ask your local dealer to check your VIN to see if these have already been done.

I am also interested in your experiences, good or bad.

Robert
