Henry, I used Hella 300 series, designed for flush mounting in aerodams under bumper, but I put 'em on a vertical bar behind my grille to keep the lenses intact and the lites non stolen-midnight auto supply is big time in NYC RE:Volvo 240/740 trim/wheel covers/signal covers.
IDEA-I switched to Security TORX screws on my exterior "stealables" and havent had any losses since! Got 'em from a Car Phone Install place and got a couple of the driver bits as well. I also got some Bugle Headed ones in 1/4" thread and used 'em as security scews on my wheel covers-I just used a solid lug nut (like for the spoke wheels) and drilled/tapped a 1/4" hole in the closed end, drilled a hole in wheel cover in same spot and "Bob's your uncle"!

Stoney, very interesting place to put a set of lights. I've seen a lot of the Aux. driving lights broken by stone chips. My windshield is a perfect example. I've got pits and stars all over the place. I'm going have to take it in one day and get the windshield replace. I'll have to pay up @$50.00 for the insurance deductible. In a way I don't really want to replace the windshield because it's not really that bad or is it cracked. I know that if I replace it two days down the road I'll end up with one on the new windshield! As for the Wheel covers that is another good idea! So far I had 2 sets of the Volvo wheel covers stolen. It's that they don't take the 4 but they just take the 1! That's why next winter I'm mounting the snow tires on an old (2 pairs) of Volvo alloy wheels. You got to have lock nuts on them.

Henry, I use the McGuard line of wheel locks-they seem to be large enough diameter so if you don't have the key you can't use a "Lug Removal" tool to take 'em off. (I've seen a tool at a number of tire shops that slips over the locking lug and the "teeth" inside the tool dig into the outside of the lock lug and it can be spun off like a regular lug-but you have to have room to slip it over the lock lug and the design of the Turo 5 Spokers doesn't allow for this -at least on my set.)
By putting my driving lights behind the grile I can keep the center line of all bulbs the same-less shadows and more light. I also can pervent loss due to curbs and the like. I have a pair of "El Cheapo" Chieftans if you want 'em. They're OK but lens/reflector combo in Hella/Bosch is vastly superior.
I have seen a guy in NYC who has a set of the 12" diameter Hella Off Road lites on his 145. Looks really funny and in daily NYC bumber test traffic I wonder about their lifetime! You can try one of the Windshield fix kits for the star hits on your windshield glass. I used them several times on my old 245 and passed inspection with no trouble. Loctite was the brand I used and it wasn't too hard, just be sure to clean out the star well before starting. I used orangewood stick w/ emery cloth 1st time and Dremel Mototool since. (In case I never mentioned it this tool or the Ryobi copy cat will pay for itself in 3 to 4 uses. Home Depot/Lowes/HQ run sales all the time and the big kit aill run $50 in US vs. up to $125 in catalogues. The burr set and small wir whel are so great fot pinpoint rust and small paint touch up preparation.).
Enjoy.

Stoney, I've not yet had a chance to correct the problem with adding the 30 amp. 12 V relay onto the Aux. lighting system. I went to my local automotive parts store and the parts counter guy informs me that as I hook the wire from the car battery, I should add on a 30 amp. fuse before the line enters the relay terminial! ..... As for the McGuard lock nuts I use them too! but the lock nut that I hot from McGuard are in metric bolt sizes. Therefore, I had to settle for a El Cheapo set for the 240 (standard threading). So far nobody has stolen the 20 spoke (multi-spoke) Volvo alloy wheels I switched with my 940 sedan. By the way the spokes are a pain to clean. The front wheels are the worst ones! ..... When I'm in Toronto, Ont. I go to my local Volvo?Land Rover Dealership to see if I can get a good deal from them on parts for the Volvos. While there last week I seen a Land Rover Discovery with a set of those large round Hella lights with the Hella plastic light covers on them. They looked pretty cool. Like I said I hate to be the one who gets a crack on thoese babies!
Drive Safely.... Drive Volvo!

Henry, Hook up to the terminal distribution strip behind the left headlite on fenderwall (240 series). Put a spade lug on end of Thick wire and plug in, Ring terminal on ground screw into fender or under another screw point, 2 wires to lites and one back along harness, thru bootsleeve and into dash area, hook this up to switch then run second wire to fusebox (this is switching power and on big amp draw) also hook a wire up to lighter wire/dash lites for idiot lite on switch and also a ground.
MCM has Bosch 30 amp relays and socket with proper size wiring for $10US - Try Canadian Tire, when I was in Halifax for 95 Eco. Summit I saw some in a CT store there so they may have 'em still.
Is Canadian Tire a Coast to Coast store? If not let me know 'cause I must have a buddy headed north soon and Ihave a complete relay/socket set sittin in my toolbox as a spare and yer welcome to it!
Let me know...
