Hi,

my '82 760 GLE has started to produce a squaling/grinding noise from somewhere near/in the gearbox. The noise start when the (automatic) gears are about to shift and ends shortly after it has shifted. Can anybody give me any indications on what might cause this? I am going to bring it in to be checked/repaired, but as the local garages are nor very Volvo-minded I would like to be able to give them some indication of the possible cause.
