Instrument Cluster Removal: 88 765T[ALL/1998] posted by Michael McBroom on

The 760s were restyled in 1988. The dash and instrument cluster was part of the restyling. Unfortunately, my Haynes manual for 1983-1988 700-series cars does not cover the new features in the restyled 760s. A simple removal of the instrument cluster via the two screws in the bottom corners no longer seems to be applicable. I've tried prying on various plastic pieces up there, but I'm afraid I'll break something. Any suggestions?

Keep prying and something Will break. Look at the sides of the cluster housing about 1/2 inch from the actual face of the bezel. There is a slot at each side of the cluster housing. There is a metal tab which must be pulled towards the center of the cluster. Once you have both of these pulled inwards, the cluster will pull out. Your first one is a little difficult due to being unsure/careful. I believe two pocket screwdrivers will do the trick.
