850 timing belt questions[ALL/1998] posted by Leo Montreuil on

I have seen messages about the timing belt breaking and damaging the valve on the 850. I also seen on this board other Volvo owners with timing belt problems (specifically the 960 model). My question are: Should I wait to the recommended interval of 70K miles to change the timing belt or should I change it sooner? Like just before the 4 years warranty expire. Then I should have around 60 K miles on the odometer. Is the timing belt breaking likely on the 850? If so, after how many miles they break.

Thank you.
