AVOID COAST VOLVO OF SARASOTA, FLA. [ALL/1998] posted by Jason Stevenson on

DEAR VOLVO ENTHUSIASTS- I HAVE LOVED VOLVOS SINCE MY FATHER PURCHASED OUR 1983 244GL, AS IT WAS MY FIRST CAR WHEN I BEGAN TO DRIVE 6 YEARS AGO, AND IS THE SOURCE OF MANY PLEASANT MEMORIES. WHILE I WAS IN COLLEGE, OUR BELOVED AUTMOBILE HAD STOPPED RUNNING AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD MY DAD THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT THE SUM OF 3800 DOLLARS. MY FATHER HAD IT TOWED BACK TO HIS HOME, AND UPON MY ARRIVAL TWO MONTHS LATER, I OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND MISSING PARTS AND PIPES THROWN ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. THE AIR MASS METER HAD BEEN STOLEN BY THE DEALERSHIP, AND TO THIS DAY I CANNOT FIND A USED ONE SUITABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER DENIED EVER SEEING THE CAR, AND I HAD NO RECORD OF THE CAR BEING IN THEIR POSSESSION. THE CAR STARTED UPON THE FIRST CRANK, AND I SAW NO REASON OF AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE. UNFORTUNATELY FOR VOLVO OWNERS IN THE SARASOTA AREA, THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP IS 80 MILES AWAY. BUT FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE YOU CAR TO COAST VOLVO.
