Re: Thinking about 56K? $90(+/-)[ALL/1998] posted by Jarrod on

Hello all.
Thought I might share this one with you all.
I found a killer deal on a 56K modem. Hayes has some kind of trade-in deal where you send in any old modem (once cleared to do so) and in exchange you will receive a new Hayes internal, external, fax, voice, PC, Mac or whatever for around $90.
I ordered mine online. You will need all the model information of your to-be-traded modem and the serial number.
Takes them three weeks to process. Not the most convenient way to buy a modem, but it is one helluva great deal. I was out shopping at all the recognizeable named chain computer stores and they all refuse to accept the decline of the 33.6. They are all terribly priced. I can't beleive these places can stay in business.
Anyway, avoid asking me about and go to their site: www.hayes.com
Later, -jarrod
Extra tip: to avoid downtime, go to a thrift store and buy a 1200 baud modem for $10.
