twin webers for B20[ALL/1998] posted by Gerry Roney on

I have the opportunity to purchase a set of Weber carburetors with manifold and air cleaners for my '69 1800s project car at a reasonable price. I am planning on building this car for "go" as I have a '72 1800E for "show", but I am wondering about the suitability of this arrangement for street driving. I will be trying out a set of steel headers on the car as well. Would anyone have any comments on this arrangement?

If all you want is a richer fuel/air mixture, it would be easier to change the needles in your SU carburetors. There is a story about this on my web page under "Fuel System." -Glenn.

What size are the Webers?
I have 40DCOEs on my B-20, and they're great for street use. Larger carbs[42,45] tend to be a bit much and are very difficult to jet for smooth low speed operation. Unless you figure to do a burnout at every stop sign, smaller is better. Top end is still excellent.
Maybe if you have a 2130 kit in your engine, larger would be OK.
