Aftermarket 1800E Wheels?[ALL/1998] posted by Chita on

Well, I'm tired already. I never liked the wheels and putting $umpteen dollar Michelins on 'em didn't improve anything. I've got one center emblem that's iffy - looks a little bubbly or something. It screws on with this little phillips screw. The short version: I just don't like these wheels anyway and never did. They're headed for the storage locker.

Now I'm shopping for aftermarket wheels. I'm thinking something fairly plain in aluminum or magnesium alloy. No flashy chrome. Light, conservative, easy to care for.

I saw one set by ... WRT of Japan? I'm not sure of the name, but it's a very clean looking wheel. five offset spokes, lots of metal, including a pry-off cover for the lugs, smooth powder coat finish aluminum. It has no brand name emblem on it, which immediately attracted me. (The first thing I ever did on taking delivery of this car was to rip off the license plate frame with the dealer's name on it in yellow and orange...)

Any hints, tips, warnings - gratefully accepted.

There are some very nice 240 cast rims available which work quite well on 1800s; check out used rims.

IPD U.S.A. carries alloy wheels that will fit the Volvo 1800E/ES The offset
to those alloy wheels are +1" (25mm) They are the "ALPHA-V" they cost @225.00
each and are made in Italy. They are 15" x 6". They are a replica of the original "Draco" wheels used by Volvo on there 85-88' 740 Turbos. The Volvo dealers sell thes alloy wheels for @$400.00+ each! I would suggest the TSW
Brand alloy wheels to you but, they are 15" x 7" so the may rub against the front struts..... Has anyone out there put 15" x 7" alloy wheels on a 1800
before???
I hope this is of some help!
