Replacing the heater fan in ANY Volvo after they went to the center console block out design ('73 and newer) is a job which is listed in those labor estimate books at the dealership as a 7 hour job. And this is an estimate for a mechanic who knows what he's doing and has experience doing this repair. I've done about 4 of 'em, and it is not a pleasant experience. I'd much rather change a clutch on an OD transmission than do this. As they would say in the Navy: Stand by for heavy rolls.
