On my '87 745T, the shortest *single* wire that's attached to the instrument cluster is the wire for the upshift light. It's located toward the bottom of the cluster just a bit to the right of center -- wish I could be more specific, but it's been a while since I've had the cluster out. Anyway, since it is the shortest wire connected to the cluster, on more than one occasion it has come loose while I've had the cluster out, and I've neglected to reconnect it, thus no upshift indicator.
