850 center brake light(sedan)[ALL/1998] posted by Just Wondering on

Is it just me, or do some of you also think that the standard left/right brake lights on these models are brighter than the center brake light? I've seen many 850's on the road, stopped at traffic lights, as I come up behind them, I think to myself that the center brake light on the 850 sedan is pretty useless, because it's barely brighter than the standard tail light. But, the two left and right brake lights positively glow like flares in comparison to the center brake light.
I have not noticed this on 850 wagons; on wagons, the three brake lights appear uniformly bright, all lined up in a neat row.
This does not apply to the S/V70, since those come with LED center brake lights, which appear brighter(to me) than the center brake lights on the older 850 sedans.
I raise this issue because I think this contradicts the safety intent of the center brake light.
I don't think this is due to dirt on the glass, since I've noticed it frequently. In comparison, I've also frequently noticed that on 244/245's, the three brake lights all light-up, uniformly nice and bright, in a "triangle" pattern.
