85 740 B230F almost quits after a long[ALL/1998] posted by LA on

stutters & almost quits running after sweeping right turn (a gentle turn, not pulling any wild g's) when I go to accelerate (highway entrance). Can work with throttle to keep alive, but dicey as there's the offramp I have to cross - great civil design! No problems otherwise. 120K miles. I'm thinking fuel starvation due to ? Tank is never below 1/2 full, mostly nearer full on this leg. TIA. Rgds. 85 740 B230F

If you had said that the tank was about 1/4 full I would have said that the bellows coupling between the in tank pump and the outlet tube was gone. You might check the same route with a full tank. You can replace the bellows thing with a piece of fuel hose.

LA,
I agree with Don. A couple other possibilities to look at....broken connector at distributor (hall switch). If battery is not secure it could be pressing against the ignition amplifier harness and causing a brief open circuit. Pay attention to fuel level though as the hose between the intank pump and pick-up tube (what Don is talking about) is probably the most likely cause.
