'84 760T electrical harness[ALL/1998] posted by Wes Dooley on

I have a 1984 760T. I've driven it a 100K miles and enjoy it but am looking at work it will need and wondering whether to look for another one, or work on this one some more. The car started out life in Texas, and the underhood electrical harness shows that. Lots of cracks in the insulation. Around the battery compartment, there are areas where there is no insulation at all. The two new harness sections I'm told are about $900. Is a new harness the way to go, or should I continue to rewire a section at a time? Any other suggestions?

I'm also looking for a M46 manual transmission as mine has a dead overdrive (type J)and has bearings that are self destructing. Any suggestions as to where to look for these rebuilt or used? Thanks greatly. Its fun to find that there are other people who are stubborn about keeping there cars running.
