Falken Snow Tires[ALL/1998] posted by Paul S. on

For the rear of the 262C I bought some Falken 195/70R-14 HS404 studded snow tires. Had them mounted on some spare alloy wheels. Haven't slapped them on the car yet, due to lack of snow in the Seattle region (thank God - you
want to see snarled traffic?! - about this time last year we had 18" - melted with a hard warm rain...)

I bought them at Les Schwab (who else?) - they carry studded: Hakkapalinias
(sp? Nokkia ?), Deans, and a Les Schwab retread. Comparing prices...tread
pattern, number of studs, compounds, I went with the Falken. I have heard
of the company (when I was searching for the elusive 205/50-16's for the
855). The tires are made in Japan. The tires "look" good.

I am normally a better tire shopper...ie mail order, etc....but with a
waddling wife (sticking out with baby), Christmas, freezing temps, getting
the retread studs slapped (third season - still good) back on the Toyota
pickup for free at Les Schwab....I just took my spare wheels and said mount
'em up with the Falkens.

My question: Has anyone heard of/tried the Falken HS404 snow tire?
