Installing Factory Fog Lights on S/V70[ALL/1998] posted by Ira Blumberg on

I installed the factory fog lights on my wife's S70 over the weekend and thought I would share my experience with the board in case any other enterprising souls are interested.
I got the kit mail order for about $190. It included everything necessary including factory instructions.
While simple in concept, the installation requires removal of the knee bolster on the driver's side under the dash board and also requires removal of a control module behind the knee bolster in order to access a relay panel where 2 new relays must be installed. This removal and the subsequent reassembly took quite a bit of time and trial and error (about 3 hours). Also, while you can install the lights themselves without jacking up the car, it is much easier with the car raised (thank goodness for floor jacks).
Once installed, everything worked well. I strongly suggest testing the lights before reassembling everything, just in case.
The lights look factory installed. Now of course we have one of the few S70s around with fog light, but without a spoiler.

That sounds like a very good price. Where did you mail order these from?

I found a number of discount Volvo parts places in the back of Car and Driver Magazine. I ordered the lights from Roger Beasley Volvo at 800-880-2101. I got the same price from several other places including Brentwood Volvo at 800-844-9502 and Nils Sefeldt Volvo at 800-468-0041.

Let me know how long it is before the screws holding the bottom of the fog lights to the air dam pop out.
Hopefully you won't have this problem, but one little nudge to the air dam (rough driveway somewhere) and "POP!"
I had to have both of mine replaced within the first 3 months... (Fortunately they were factory installed.)
BTW. I have one of the other few S70s with fogs and no spoiler.
Another trick I like is to drive around with the rear fog light on trying to get pulled over for having a tail light out! :^)
