snow chains for 850[ALL/1998] posted by benny chien on

Need info on adjusting Volvo chains for my 850 Turbo wagon. The factory Volvo chains, which are very unique in design, fit perfectly on the 205/50/16 tires. But I just put on new Michelin GT Z4 205/55/16 tires, which now have a bigger circumference. The chains have an adjustment mechanism to add links. Like to know if someone knows where to get proper links and number of links per each quadrant. Volvo manual gives no details. Thanks much for any input. PS. I think I may have bought tires beyond needs of the car. New V70 comes with V series tire.

Correction to prior message. Volvo dealer confirms that the Volvo chains require 205/50/16 tires on turbo. 55 series don't have enough clearance. So am changing Michelin gt z4 55 tires to Pirelli 50 profile. OEM Michelin MXM tires are disproportionately expensive.
