122 Asbestos?[ALL/1998] posted by Brian T. on

Anyone know about the sheeting put above the headliner in a 122? Is it asbestos? I recall seeing an ad in the "Selling Volvo" book boasting about asbestos (when it was a "good" thing) being used. Wondering if I have to hire a crew in plastic suits to come remove it. ---Brian

If in doubt, get it sampled/tested. It doesn't seem that costly to remove even at commercial rates, (Small enclosed area.relativelt small amount of product,
it's a flat/sloped surface, and will be covered after removal). But a complete cleaning, seat removal, serious vaacuming, washing of seatcovers, etc would be called for, due to the dust, etc generated during removal. But you also could legally cover it with a plastic barrier or membrane and also abate it that way.
