B23F Mass Air Flow Sensor[ALL/1998] posted by Gregg on

I need a cheap fix, repair kit, procedure for fixing the mass
meter on 1983-84 B23F. The units make the cars run full lean.
I bought a no name, no warranty unit from GAPA that lasted one year,
not a good deal for $250.
I have two cars with this problem, and their harder to get going
in the morning than I am.
Thanksin advance to the handsome genius who can answer this.

I'm not handsome and I've been called a lot of things, but never genius.

The air mass meter is a touchy thing to repair as evident by the fact you've had a rebuilt one go bad fairly quickly. I've never seen any info on the internals of one to facilitate any repairs.

The only alternative to a new (Bosch rebuilt) one is a junk yard.

Mark is right go to the junk yard to look for one. Or you could get a new one from your Volvo dealer(big bucks there)! I did the same thing from my 240 and it's still on the road! Since Iv'e replaced it I've got 100.000 miles out of her! But, now the front upper strut mounts and rear bushings needs service. It never ends!
