81 242 turbo hard start[ALL/1998] posted by Bryan Koos on

My 81 242 turbo experiences an intermittent hard\no start. This occurs most often when the car has been sitting for approximately two hours after driving. On restart, the engine will start and die. After I bleed fuel pressure from the control pressure line at the fuel distributor it will start and run but it surges at idle until driven 10 minutes or more. This particular car has the control pressure regulator with vacuum connections. Am I having a control pressure regulator problem? What is the exact purpose of the vacuum connections on the c.p. regulator? Can it be replaced with one without vacuum conn- ections? Any help would be appreciated!
