744 Turbo Performance Tips?[ALL/1998] posted by Derek Dyer on

I have a 1987 744 Turbo and I'm looking to improve my engine performance. I have already added splitfire sparkplugs and a K&N airfilter. I have 120K miles and the engine is in good shape (B230FT I believe), it has the stock exhaust system on it with an automatic transmission.. Has anybody had any experience with the Turbo Plus kit? It seems rather expensive $700 at my dealer plus another $200 to install it. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks, Derek

the turbo plus does make a great deal of difference in power,i installed a couple of them when i worked at the dealer.they are not alot of fun to install.you can also increase your boost by adjusting the waste gate actuator rod,but this is best left to someone who knows how to tweek a turbo without destroying your motor.if you are intrested i have a new in box turbo plus unit i was saving until i bought a turbo,i will sell for $250.iwas going to install the turbo+ and a newer style intake manifold that has a cold start injector and connect the cold start injector to the throttle switch full throttle pin and see how much boost i could get before the engine would detonate, but i lack the time and the money.
