...and if they're running that hot, they may be taxing the stock wiring/fuses as well. Be careful -- upgrading one part of the circuit will usually reveal the next weakest link.
When I converted my 242 to very-high-output headlights, I installed 4 relays - one for low beams, one for high beams on each side; and ran 10/12 gauge wire from the power source (alt) to the relay, and from the relay outputs to the lights, and for the grounds. Since my headlights (H1/H4 Hella units) are all steel and glass -- nothing to melt now. They are bright and warm. I like.
