HID H7 Headlight Bulbs...I messed up

I messed up. I bought some H7 5000K headlight bulbs. They fit the Brick and they looked cool. However, they run a lot hotter than the OEM lights. As a result, I melted the connector on the passenger side. I got a bulb out indicator. When I went to disconnect the light, the connector crumbled in my hands. Fortunately, I found a replacement connector and harness for about 20 bucks. at a discount Volvo parts house. How does this harness connect to the car? Do I have to remove the headlight assembly? I have a Haynes Volvo manual if I have to.

Mine fell apart too. I only have Halogens, don't feel so bad.

I got the new OEM lighting harness. Pretty easy to install. Now all headlights work. I think I'll stay with stock H7 bulbs

Go to a NAPA store for a new connector

NAPA has higher-temperature rated connectors -- at least for H4 bulbs (for Euroheadlights). Maybe they have some (made from the same material) for yours -- ask for them.

...and if they're running that hot, they may be taxing the stock wiring/fuses as well. Be careful -- upgrading one part of the circuit will usually reveal the next weakest link.

When I converted my 242 to very-high-output headlights, I installed 4 relays - one for low beams, one for high beams on each side; and ran 10/12 gauge wire from the power source (alt) to the relay, and from the relay outputs to the lights, and for the grounds. Since my headlights (H1/H4 Hella units) are all steel and glass -- nothing to melt now. They are bright and warm. I like.
